LESS DUST – MORE EFFICIENCY

Since summer 2017, Vogt-Schild Druck in Derendingen has been producing on a manroland Rotoman Direct Drive,
whose installation has attracted a great deal of attention in the industry. The 16-page web offset press has now been
equipped with a compact, contactless KELVA web cleaning system.

In normal operation, the manroland Rotoman DD prints 65,000 copies of a 16-page brochure per hour. Since 2017
at Vogt-Schild Druck in Derendingen, it has ensured industrial web production at the highest level with impressive flexibility with regard to the types of paper that can be processed,
web widths, automatic material and job changes. It is printing
periodicals, journals, magazines, advertising printed matter, etc., practically without interruptionand always in maximum runs.

However, in recent years, paper dust load has risen significantly and was affecting the highly automated industrial printing operations. Also paper waste, caused by the necessary intermediate washing and the subsequent need to reload got more and more painful regarding the sharp rise in paper prices.

KELVA’s solution

Therefore a solution was needed and found by integrating
a contactless web cleaning system consisting of a KELVA TL1 web cleaning head with the width of 1050 mm including an antistatic equipment. The KELVA AFF-K17 filter-fan unit with integrated frequency converter for ensuring optimum airflow and dust extraction completed the system, so that the dust is successfuly collected into the dust collection drawer of the filter cabinet.

KELVA’s web cleaners generally can be flexibly mounted.
In the case of the integration in the manroland Rotoman DD, the optimal place for positioning the web suction system was between the unwinding unwind and the first printing unit. The special feature of the web cleaning configuration for Vogt-Schild Druck is the chain lead-through, which ensures a perfect automatic paper feed. With a width of 1050 mm, the TL1 head is suitable for all paper roll widths and grammages processed at Vogt-Schild Druck.
